spooky interview with swmrs

Interview by Sophia Denison

Electrifying punk rock band, SWMRS, thrilled fans with the release of their second album, Berkley’s On Fire, earlier this year. From humble beginnings as a neighborhood garage band, the four California-based boys underwent a thundering growth in popularity and are now planning to  tackle a world tour. Lead guitarist and backup vocalist Max Becker took some time out of their busy performance schedule to answer some spooky questions in the spirit of Halloween.

EU: Scariest thing that’s happened on tour?

Max: We’ve driven through two tornados and one flash flood. Oh, we’ve come very close to hitting rogue animals like deer. Not a safe industry!

EU: Do you still dress up for Halloween? When is “too old” to dress up?

Max: Yes! It’s never too old to dress up. Halloween is so important for the human psyche. Everyone has anxiety and hates what’s going on in the world a wonderful escapist opportunity to have fun and not care.

EU: When is the last time you dressed up for Halloween? What costume?

Max: Last Halloween haha. And I was dash from the incredibles.

EU: What’s your recurring nightmare?

Max: That my teeth will fall out :/

EU: Favorite Halloween candy? +why?

Max: Peanut m+m’s because I’m more of a salty guy! They’re the only candy that I can literally eat for hours. Very dangerous.

EU: Favorite Halloween tradition? +why?

Max: We used to crumple up massive pieces of brown construction paper and staple it to the walls of our garage to make a cave for a haunted house

EU: Favorite horror movie? +why?

Max: Twilight. Mic drop.

EU: Have you ever used a Ouija board? What happened?

Max: I haven’t. You can probably guess by my previous answer that I generally stray from scary things. Haha.

EU: Who is your favorite horror author?

Max: E.L. JAMES. Haha.

EU: Do you have any phobias?

Max: Yes, I really don’t like canned salmon.

The future continues to look remarkably bright for these boys. Check out SWMRS latest album Berkley’s on Fire! In addition, please keep the band in your hearts, as some of the crew were involved in a road accident recently.
